Silo · storage on Havre

A home for the things you want to keep.

Silo gives your scans, photos, books, and music a clear place to live in Canada. Private collections are sealed before upload. Public libraries stay readable only when you have the right to publish them.

Preview only. Do not upload personal files yet.

Primary product goal

Buy a private cloud drive. Sync it everywhere.

Silo is being built as a Google Drive-like space on Havre. The paid path starts with storage packages, client-side encryption, and device sync. Checkout remains closed in this preview until pricing, recovery, and restore evidence are proven.

  1. 01
    Buy storage

Choose a fixed capacity package and see the terms before checkout.

  2. 02
    Encrypt on device

Seal private files locally before they leave an authorized device.

  3. 03
    Sync devices

Link your devices, resume transfers, and keep conflicts as separate copies.

  4. 04
    Restore with proof

Verify integrity and restore a prior version before the paid launch.

Two shelves, two rules

Privacy is a collection choice you can see.

▣Private archive

Seal before upload

Scans, photos, and personal files stay unreadable to Havre. The client seals them before storage.

  • Scans, photos, documents, and personal media
  • Client-side envelope encryption
  • Havre stores the sealed object, not the plaintext
◌Public library

Readable by design

Books and music can remain web-readable only when you own or have the right to publish them.

  • Books, music, and openly available references
  • Rights or source declaration before publishing
  • Separate namespace from private collections

Important: available on the web does not mean free to redistribute. Silo will keep public references, rights-cleared files, and private archives distinct.

Book intake

Scan once. Identify before storage.

Silo will check a barcode, ISBN, or OCR result against the collection before it commits a book scan. An optional ISBN lookup can fill the edition fields from Open Library after a local camera scan. An exact match links to the existing object. A different edition stays available as its own edition.

Same work is not always the same file.Annotations, translations, watermarks, missing pages, and formats remain visible instead of being silently discarded.
  1. 01
    Scan

Read a barcode or ISBN, then use OCR when the book has no reliable code.

  2. 02
    Identify

Resolve the work, edition, language, format, and source metadata.

  3. 03
    Compare

Check the tenant library for an exact content match before bytes are committed.

  4. 04
    Commit

Link an exact duplicate, keep a distinct edition, or hold an uncertain scan for review.

Fixed packages

Start with the shelf that fits.

Package shapes are ready for review. The ranges are a draft commercial model, not live charges.

Technical pilot

Run the first sync from your own device.

The reference client and a small desktop companion are now available for invited pilots on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The companion opens a local folder-sync window around the same trusted client, lets each device retain selected remote folders to save space, keeps the private key on your machine, hands recovery password prompts to the canonical client terminal, checks the account and device gates before sync, resumes encrypted transfers when a connection drops, and propagates tracked deletions only as recoverable tombstones after a newer-change check.

Preview boundary: checkout is closed and personal uploads are not invited yet. Run the local smoke test first; the bundle is for technical pilot work only.

  1. 01
    Download the source bundle

The page includes the reference client, desktop companion, encryption module, requirements, and SHA-256 checksums.

  2. 02
    Run the local smoke tests

Create a private virtual environment and verify both the encryption round trip and the desktop command boundary without contacting Havre.

  3. 03
    Run the Silo setup check

After an invited account and package are ready, open the companion or CLI, register a device, choose retained remote folders, and verify the local sync folder.

Commercial basis · preview only

Storage gets its own price.

QReader and QScanner already have useful product pricing, but those purchases unlock app features. Silo is a separate storage contract: its CAD monthly amount will cover capacity, recovery, restore, payment, and support instead of silently borrowing an app entitlement.

QReader CloudHosted-book storage reference
30 GB initial cloud tier Monthly price loaded by Google Play

The app does not hardcode the amount; 150 GB and 500 GB remain future server tiers.

QScanner ProScanner feature purchase
Lifetime app entitlement $19.99 one-time

Unlimited scans, OCR, signatures, and Pro tools; this is not a storage allowance.

Quicker.tools SupporterCross-app feature entitlement
Ecosystem entitlement $0.99/month

Bought in Quicker Tools; it is not a Silo capacity or recovery purchase.

These are planning references, not Silo charges. Silo checkout stays closed until the owner-approved package amounts and the payment, renewal, recovery, restore, and support gates have dated evidence.

The path to sync

Simple now. Durable when it is real.

The first preview shows collections and packages. The technical pilot now has a sealed reference client and a desktop companion; paid access still waits on pricing, recovery, renewal, and restore evidence before personal data is invited.

  1. 01Choose a shelf

    Private archive or public library.

  2. 02Seal or declare

Encrypt private files. Declare a source or right for public media.

  3. 03Sync with proof

Resume transfers, keep versions, and restore before launch.
